Elstat Electronics was founded in 1995 and specialises in the development, manufacturing and sales of electronic temperature control systems for the commercial refrigeration industry. Elstat does not produce control applications other than for refrigeration.

The first 3 years were solely dedicated to the development of a range of controls and in 1999 Elstat started to actively market its products.

Elstat operates globally, but in Canada, U.S.A. and Mexico Elstat products are exclusively marketed by the General Electric Company, in Africa Elstat has its own sales office based in Johannesburg - South Africa and the rest of the world is serviced from the head office based in Preston - England. In 2000 Elstat opened its production facility in Durban - South Africa.

Since Elstat was opened a variety of new revolutionary technologies have been patented and Elstat continuously works on new developments all of which are based on functionality rather than novelty.

Today Elstat produces> 1000 control per 8-hour shift, exports in >99% of its production output and is specified by leading brand names globally in the refrigeration industry
